Overview
Join Pride of Southern Utah for another edition of Let's Go Birding Together! High elevation peaks can act as an island of sorts, with birds you wouldn't find anywhere else in the state taking shelter in the cooler temperatures. Join Phenix and Annika as you explore this Alpine world.
This hike is at a very high elevation, so be prepared for it to feel more difficult than it would in town. Bring plenty of water and snacks, wear sunscreen and sun protection, sturdy shoes, and layers to accommodate changing weather.
Hikers age 18 or older are invited to join and hikers below the age of 18 may attend if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Please RSVP for all hikers that will be in your party.
Meet-up Location: Chessman Ridge Overlook, Cedar Breaks National Monument
There is an entrance fee to the park that should be respected. It is $10/person, and that can be paid in advance here
Carpool: Carpooling can be arranged through the hosts after you make your reservation. A ride is not guaranteed, but our hosts will do their best to assist with transportation as needed.
Trail Info: Upper Alpine Trail, 2 miles out & back. Moderate rating due to uneven surfaces and high elevation
What to bring:
